Thanks so much to the referee's who have done an outstanding job under the leadership of Sunny Afshar. Thanks to the Centre Managers who have helped keep us organised. Thanks to the admin staff at Football Toowoomba and thanks to the Football Toowoomba committee who have supported this endeavor. Best regards - Paul Mason (Outgoing Chairman of Futsal Toowoomba)
Open Men's Grand Final: Sai De Frente 5 def Good As Gold 4This was a game fitting of a grand final. "Sai De Frente" come into the final game as favourites, minor premiers and the winners of last years grand final. "Good as Gold" came into the game with cunning and speed, matching their opponents in every respect. The game see sawed goal for goal with both sides displaying lot's of passion. This passion was well contained by Sunny Afshar our senior FFA referee who kept the game safe for all. At the full time mark it was 4 all in a nail biter. Going into extra time Sai De Frente hit the back of the net with a well set up goal and in the dying seconds of the game "Good As Gold" had their chance to equalise but narrowly missed. Congratulations to both teams. Under 18 Grand Final: Foreigners United 8 def We Got Balls 2Both teams came into the game on equal points on the leader board. Initially the game was hard fought and quite close until the second half when Foreigners United inched ahead proving it's no fluke why they have scored the most goals in their pool this season. Unfortunately with two minutes to go "We Got Balls" lost Adam Liesch who injured himself when he landed awkwardly in a clumsy tackle and was taken to hospital. This was the death bell for "We Got Balls" and the match was ended with Foreigners United the victors.
Under 15/16 Grand Final: Fire Ants 6 def Knights 3When I watched this game I remembered the Knights from last year so I just checked the results. In the 2010 final Knights defeated the Fire Ants 7 - 2. So in 2011 it's been reversed. Looks like we will have a grudge match coming next year!! Both teams played fast and honest Futsal but once the Fire Ants got in front their confidence grew and the task just became too hard for the Knights.
Grand Finals Under 14: Defenders 5 def Barcelona 4
Grand Finals Under 13: Eagles 3 def Lions 2
Grand Finals Under 12: "Lightning" 12 def "The Gutter Gang" 1This match was probably the upset of the final series. The Gutter Gang hadn't lost a game all season. A contributing factor may have been that they had to play two games on grand final night. To take nothing away from "Lightning" though they came into the match with confidence from a hard fought semi final against the amazing Under 11 Black Jets. Once "Lightning" had things going their way they doggedly enforced themselves on the game. Congratulations to all involved.
Under 11 Grand Final: "The Party Animals" 7 def "England" 4The "Party Animals" considered themselves lucky to be in the grand finals when they had an upset win over the mighty and unbeaten "Feist Cobra's" in the semi. However upsets have been the theme of the final series and some would say that "England" was not supposed to win their semi against "Taipans" but they did. So 3rd and 4th on the ladder found themselves in the finals. With much fanfare both teams walked onto the court under the balloon arches to the cheers of the fans. England were hungry and scored first. But not long after the Party Animals equalised and this was theme of the opening 10 minutes of the game. In the back end of the first half England's defence was under pressure with the Party Animals probing at every chance. The Party Animals may have dominated the first half if it wasn't for some outstanding goal keeping that kept England in the match. Eventually the Party Animals came away with the win. Also worth noting is the fact that England's team consisted mostly of younger players which is a reflection on the great skills they posses and the very bright football future they have.
Under 10 Grand Final: "Redbacks" 8 def "Black Strikers" 5
